My Dad used to write me a note to tell me what he thought of my work. I used to love reading his thoughts. You're right, my Son, small talk and TV are most often neither but, if you're selective, you should be able to pick what is valuable. Of course, if you totally eliminate both, you might miss out on some pearls.<BR/><BR/>The time given to us is precious,(at my age I become ever more aware of the truth of that), and we ought not to waste it. <BR/><BR/>The Bible not only talks of making "a joyful noise unto the Lord" but of how the skilful playing of music can sooth the troubled breast eg David on his harp.<BR/><BR/>Some might say it's a sin to waste precious time, perhaps boredom is the punishment for that sin. Keep filling your spare time with reading, writing (for your own edification as well as for others), singing, dancing, listening to and making music, creating art and educating yourselves using all the means available including TV, which has a lot to offer so long as you are selective.
